Wedding Show ~~ 24 April 2010 ~~

Pls be prepared, its going to be a lonnngggg entry this time heeheee...

CC and I received the invitation cards from Grand Park to go down to their wedding show, A Wedding Symphony, on thursay, 22 April 2010. We were pretty surprised to receive the invites cos we already signed the package with Janice but we thought it was good cos we always have headaches on what to do on weekends. I looked at the itinery and its pretty interesting. Itinery includes talk by geomancy master, how to customise wedding bands, showing the ROM and bridal suites, reception and most importantly, LUCKY DRAW!

The itinery is listed below
  • Registration and cocktail reception
  • Consultation and viewing of Bridal Suite
  • Live Music entertainment from Yours Truly
  • FengShui tips by Danny Cheong
  • Tips on customising wedding bands by Ling Collection
  • Fashion show by La Vie Bridal
  • Tea Reception and Consultation
  • Lucky draw and Farewell

We met up early in the morning to go down to the bank to settle some stuff and headed off for Swensons breakfast. Its the 1st time we tried it and i think its really value for money. Below are some pics. We had the breakfast and it comes with 1 coffee or tea and 1 fruit juice. Total bill for 2 pax totalled to less than $10 per person! Not bad not bad. A good start to a day begins with a good breakfast!

Upon arriving at Grand Park, we went to register ourselves, got a goodie bag. While registering, we noticed some couples have a sticker given and the staff briefed them on the lucky draw but when we registered, they did not mention anything regarding the lucky draw. We saw our wedding coordinator, Janice, and wanted to ask her about it but she was with another couple so we went to explore on our own. There were other staff showing couples around the bridal suits, bridal cars and ROM venues around the hotel. We did not see the oriental suite the last time we came so we decided to join them.

After viewing the suite, we went down and there was this vendor, Cosmosine, which provides party buses that couples can book for their hen or bachelor party! Inside the bus includes disco lights, KTV, drinks and 1 of the buses even includes a pole for pole dance man!!!! Its big enough for 8 to 14 pax and there are 2 buses on display. Below are pics of the buses. So interesting!!

After viewing the bridal suites and bridal car, we went to the courtyard to see how the ROM will be set up if we were to do outdoor ROM. I think this is pretty new and so we went to take a look. Janice already booked a function room for our ROM, but we wanted to see how the outdoor ROM would look like.

I think it looks pretty nice, but guests may feel uncomfortable and sweat under the hot sun, so we are still considering if we want to change the ROM to outdoor courtyard. Anyway, the whole of the 2nd floor ballroom would be renovated, so if the decor is nice, we may just have it inside the function room. But Im happy with what I saw so far. Thumbs up!
Below are some of the set up for the wedding dinner depending on the theme we choose. So pretty!!
This one is for the normal tables for our guests.

I believe the 2 below are for the VIP tables! 2 choices for us to choose now. Hope we can see more next year and Im looking forward to see how the new ballroom looks like!

We were having alot of fun and enjoying the fashion show, all the tips from the experts and after looking around, we went back to find Janice to ask about the lucky draw thing ( as u can see, we really quite kiasu, hee ). She assured us that she has already put our ticket in the lucky draw and the ticket was not in the mail as she was afraid we would forget to bring and missed the chance at the draw. So nice and considerate of her, we really love her service!
So we went back to the ballroom to wait for the lucky draw to begin and we were playing around discussing which prize is good. There were a total of 10 prizes to be given out and we were aiming for the 3rd prize, an animation of the bride and groom love story that can be played during the wedding worth 2k plus. I was joking and even told CC to be ready to go up and get the prize, I will help him take pics. Hahaha.. So when the lucky draw finally started, we see couples going up one by one to claim their prizes.
When the 4th prize was read out, it was a tailor made suit by the designer of the bridal vendor, La Vie, worth $1888, with $268 dining voucher and $100 voucher for Yours Truly, we thought this prize was not bad. I started joking and told CC to get ready to go up, this will be our prize haha. And immediately, the MC called our CC and my name!! We were shocked and happy at the same time and went up to get the prize. So drama!!!

We missed the 3rd prize but we were really happy with this prize as well cos this is a really expensive suit but its a practical prize which CC can wear to important events. We will be able to collect the suit on 30 May 2010, the day after my birthday! After the event ended, we went to tell Janice the good news and she was v happy for us . Heehee..

All in all, this was really a happy day from start to end and it will be a really memorable day for the 2 of us...

Wedding Bands

We did not plan to buy our wedding bands anytime soon as our ROM is in Nov next year, so there is no rush. We did shop around casually as I love jewellery shopping. If given a choice, I think I will study Gemology and work in an environment surrounded by jewels!

Well, if you cant work around them, at least u can visit them once in a while . Hee.. So we were out with OHP and JC and they were showing us their wedding bands which they bought in Soo Kee when we were at ION. We went in, the service was good and the person serving us was very knowledgable and patient. I actually already have a design in mind for my wedding bands, preferable a thin band with diamonds paved along it so I can wear with my proposal ring like the pciture below. As for CC, I think he really wanted a band with diamonds on it ( he very vain one.. hahahaha).

So we looked a several bands, I must say, their collection is pretty wide as compared to TianPoh or LeeHwa and GoldHeart. Then, we saw this new Wykidd collection, WE, and it changed my criteria for my wedding band!

Exclusively designed by Wykidd Song, WE…™ commemorates the union of two souls, where the white and rose gold intertwine and unify romantically as one. Decked with glittering diamonds, this collection adds meaning to your wedding vows and magic on your big day. --> Quoted from an article.

I think it fully describes the meaning behind the bands, Rose gold = Me, White gold = CC. So meaningful. The twist actually fits with my proposal ring better than a straight diamond pave band (the one above, can see gap between the 2 rings), and it really highlights my proposal ring very well!

Yes, i found my perfect band. However, the male band does not have diamonds on it. So we kept it under KIV and decided to shop around for wedding bands first. We visited the other shops, selection really limited, the Wykidd collection still looks the best and the best thing is, it really is value for money. So in the end, my dear sacrificed his diamond and opted to get the Wykidd bands. Like most of the time, he put my me first and does his best go make me happy and get me what I want. Heehee... So we made our purchase, I customised my ring to pure white gold and now, we can strike off this item from our TO DO list and wait patiently for our wedding bands...

Wedding Banquet Confirmed!

We have been researching on the wedding venue since late last year and we did some casual research online on hotels banquet reviews etc. I got to admit, having OHP around sourcing for the wedding stuff really made us much much more hardworking and we really stepped up around the CNY period.

With the help of OHP and JC, we consulted David Tong to get some auspicious dates for our wedding and he gave us around 6 dates to choose from. However, we did not have any Saturday dates, only Fri, Wed, Thurs and Sun dates. So we were pretty constrained as there were only like 4 dates which is Fri or Sun. One of the Sunday dates were 20/11/2011, super hot date which confirm will kena lots of surcharge and will need to really fight to get the date as lots of couples will surely go for this nice date.

In the end, we were left with only 1 other Sunday, 6 Nov 2011, which should fall on the eve of a PH in 2011. This will be good for our guests as they would not have to work on the next day and will be able to stay longer and enjoy our wedding dinner so we fixed this date as our No. 1 choice . Heehee

Next, we had to come up with the budget and number of tables we needed. After consulting both our parents, we would need around 28-30 tables as we have alot of common frens since we went to the same school from kindergarden all the way til secondary school. We would try not to invite too many ppl as we would like to keep it a warm and intimate affair.

After going to wedding shows, reading online reviews, spending our weekends visiting hotel wedding coordinators with Merchant Court, Grand Copthorne Waterfront, Grand Park City Hall, going to wedding shows like BOWs etc, we finally chose our first choice, Grand Park City Hall!

We seen alot of good reviews on the food and when we went down, the wedding coordinator, Janice, was very helpful to us. The location is near City Hall MRT, the lobby looks good, there is only 1 ballroom in the hotel which would be good for our guests. Also, we will likely have the whole floor to ourselves as there is only 1 ballroom and 1 function room on the same floor. The function room is booked for our ROM on the same day as well so we get privacy for our guests. Only drawback is that if 30 tables are filled up, the ballroom may be a bit cramped and stage will be a bit small. But I LOVE the ballroom! The ceilings are high and the decor is classy, its pillarless and there is no main entrance to the ballroom. During the march in, we will both be on 1 door on each side and we will come together in the centre and walk down the aisle together. Its something different and I really think the effect will be really special!

Below are the pics of the recep area and ballroom. Look at how tall the ceiling is! Janice told us that they will be renovating the ballroom this year, looking forward to see the new and improved ballroom soon!

Next, Janice showed us the bridal suite, this is actually a upgraded suite which she will do a free upgrade for us if the room is available. Pray hard its available!! I love this SUITE!! Its not very big but the decor is v grand and there is a outdoor jacuzzi!! We signed the with Janice 7 April, just nice to take advantage of their wedding promo. Now its time to move on to plan other things with my wedding buddy OHP. Hahahaa!!

3rd Year Anniversary + Proposal

The 1st Nov 2009 marks our 3rd year anniversary together. As expected, my dear had made reservations at his fav venue, Goodwood Park Hotel to celebrate this special day.

Actually he had already bought the engagement ring for me since Aug, but had not proposed to me yet, so I had a feeling that this would be the day he officially proposed. Hee! He showed up with a bunch of flowers and all dressed up( a rare sight for him as he dun really like wearing formal tops and long pants).
So we went out for some shopping at orchard road and he got me the LV bag I was eyeing for quite some time as my anniversary present! Hee!
Next, we went on to our nice dinner at Goodwood Park Hotel for a nice dinner. The ambience there was really nice and the food was also v nice. But the place was a bit too high class for me and I felt a bit uneasy. There was like so many forks and spoons and knives for us, its like eittiquette class. Remember to work our way from outside in if all else fails. hahah.. But the food was really nice and ambience was good ..

After dessert, finally comes the part I have been waiting for.. The official proposal where he knelt down and asked for my hand with my dreamy Hearts On Fire diamond ring .. My heart is on fireeeee!!!! Heee!!

Our Future Nest Champions Court!

Last year in Feb, HDB lauched a BTO project in woodlands, Champions Court. It was announced in then news and we were very interested and excited cos its in WOODLANDS!!

We rushed back home to apply on the day it was lauched, but too bad its not first come first serve. Hahaha.. After the application, it was constant stalking of the HDB website for the results. Not only that, we stalked all the forums everyday as well... heehee.. we even went down to the HDB showflat to have a feel of the flat. Wahahah..

Well, eventually our prayers and stalking were not in vain. Our queue number was 00009! We got our dream 5 room flat on our first attempt! I think we treated Mao Mao on her accurate prediction. Heehee...Now its time to single out the block and unit for us .. heehee

Wanna know which unit we chose? You will know when u come for our housewarming in approx 2012!

In the beginning...

I finally started my wedding blog with the partnership of OHP ! Haha, today I was msning OHP discussing on her wedding stuff and discovered we both had thoughts of starting a wedding blog but had been too lazy to start one. haha. So finally after pushing each other, we both started the blog today!

Hmm, CC and I go a long way back. We have known each other ever since we were really really young. We went to the same kindergarden, primary school, secondary school. We are 26 this year and i think we have know each other for more than 20 years. Heehee.. I still remember the days where i would bully him and snatch candies from him. Muahahahaha.....Below is a picture of our class photo taken when we are in primary 2. Can you spot us? hahahaha
